Q: Are there any contra-indications to colon hydrotherapy? +-A:

-

An impacted colon can cause discomfort, and cramping may occur as the colon contracts to expel waste. Once the major impaction is removed, many actually find the session pleasant.

Q: What happens during colon hydrotherapy? +-A:
Colon hydrotherapy is a gentle infusion of water into the colon via the rectum. No chemicals or drugs are used. All equipment is fully disposable and our therapist is fully trained, internationally certified and insured.
The usual colon hydrotherapy lasts approximately 45 minutes. A small speculum is inserted into the patient’s rectum, this has one small inlet tube running warm, filtered water into the colon, and one outlet tube attached to the machine.
Slowly you will experience a little pressure in your abdomen. This is the moment when you release just as if you were sitting on your toilet - all material goes through a viewing tube and directly into the waste system. Once a release has occurred we repeat the process.
Our therapist is with you during the whole process ensuring you feel safe, nurtured and comfortable.

Yes, you can work straight back to work.
-
Q: How long is a treatment? +-A:
Please allow 1 hour for your initial consultation/treatment, and approximately 45 minutes for further treatments.
-
Q: Will colon hydrotherapy affect the bacteria balance in my body? +-A:
Colon hydrotherapy does not flush all good or bad bacteria out of the body. Once toxins are removed from the colon, the beneficial bacteria have a cleaner habitat facilitating their reproduction and multiplication, therefore restoring a positive bacterial balance in your system.
-
Q: What kind of diet shall I follow after a colon hydrotherapy session? +-A:
Following large intestinal cleansing, the body may feel weary or relaxed. This is simply your body processing through its cleaning period; so proper rest is important for your body to rejuvenate.
We also suggest:
- Drink plenty of water to keep the toxins flushing from your body.
- Avoid gas forming foods for 2 days.
- Eat more cleaning foods such as salads, vegetables, fruit (no bananas), juices, soups, fish, chicken, beets and carrot juice are very beneficial. Avoid eating raw vegetables 4-6 hours after a colonic.
- Avoid heavy meat consumption (beef and pork) for 8-12 hours. Eggs and fish is best.
- Avoid mucous forming foods such as dairy.
- Avoid strenuous exercise that day.
- After your treatment we may suggest high potency probiotic to help re-establish the good bacteria in your colon.
- Most people experience a feeling of lightness and more energy after their treatment.
- Remember to continue to drink lots of water, at least 2.5 – 3 litres and continue your usual exercise routine. You will soon start to feel a difference.
- For some people bowel movements may not return for 2 or 3 days. This will indicate how long it takes for your food to pass through you (transit time). Transit time is ideally 12 to 24 hours.
-
Q: Will laxatives accomplish the same results? +-A:
Laxatives empty the colon short term. They are an irritant to the body and leave behind impacted toxins and waste on the walls of the colon. Colon hydrotherapy uses pure water and does not irritate the body. One of the tremendous benefits is that it actually hydrates the body.
-
Q: How is colon hydrotherapy different from enemas? +-A:
Enemas are good to clean out the sigmoid and rectal areas of the colon. A series of colon hydrotherapy treatments can clean out and remove impacted material from the whole colon. Additionally, colon hydrotherapy promotes peristalsis and helps the colon muscle regain tone, therefore assisting the return of regular bowel movements.
